Large-format cream charger tanks hold between 580 g and 2 kg of nitrous oxide and replace dozens of single 8 g chargers. Choosing a nitrous oxide tank

Cream charger tanks are large nitrous oxide (N₂O) cylinders used in place of boxes of single 8 g chargers. By gas mass, a 640 g tank holds as much nitrous oxide as 80 standard 8 g chargers, so busy cafés, bakeries and caterers change cylinders far less often. Sizes we stock:

  • 580–640 g: Great Whip, InfusionMax, SmartWhip, Cream Deluxe Gold, Mosa Pro-Max, Roselle, Infuso, Amnesia Whip, CrèmeMax, LesooWhip and Cream Supreme
  • 666–700 g: Cream Deluxe Midnight and Black Cobra editions, Gold Whip 700 g and Fast Whip

What you need to use a tank

A tank is used with a compatible pressure regulator and hose, which fill a whipped cream dispenser with the amount of gas the dispenser’s maker recommends. For whipped cream, use cream with at least 28% fat. Nitrous oxide dissolves into the cream and does not oxidize it, which is why charged cream keeps well in the fridge.

Standard shipping is free to U.S. addresses where the sale of nitrous oxide products is permitted; some states and localities restrict large or flavored cylinders, and we cannot ship to those locations. What is the difference between a cream charger tank and 8 g chargers?

Both contain nitrous oxide for whipping cream. A tank holds far more gas (580 g to 2 kg) and is connected to a dispenser through a regulator, while an 8 g charger is a single-use cartridge that charges one dispenser fill.

What else do I need to use a nitrous oxide tank?

A compatible pressure regulator and hose, and a whipped cream dispenser. These are sold separately. Always follow the regulator and dispenser manufacturers’ instructions.

How much whipped cream does a tank make?

One 8 g charger whips about a pint of cream. By gas mass a 640 g tank equals 80 of those chargers, but the real yield depends on your regulator setting, dispenser size and cream.
